Healthy Diet for Your Dog

good bacteria

There are so many available dog foods including kibble, canned, refrigerated and frozen raw foods. When you go to your local supermarket there is an entire aisle devoted to your dog. You can even add fresh ingredients to that dry dog food. Homemade food for your dog is also becoming a popular trend as more and more people are realizing the benefits in feeding their dogs a balanced diet.

Supplements have also become very popular. You can buy specific dog supplements or you can simply use human supplements just make sure you adjust the dosage for you dogs size. Even if you don't buy the most expensive bag of dog food you can add supplements to compensated. Fish oil or Salmon oil is a great source of omega 3 which is beneficial to your dogs immune system, heart, and can help decrease inflammation caused by arthritis and allergies. The recommended dosage for your dog depends on their weight for every 30 lb of dog give 1000mg.

Probiotics are good bacteria that live in the intestine and help eliminate harmful bacteria in the intestine. Diarrhea can often be a cause of taking strong antibiotics because they will destroy most of the good bacteria in your dogs intestine. Probiotic supplements will help to replace these good bacterias and should help with the diarrhea. Always ask your veterinarian first if probiotics are right for you dog.

Whole food supplements are produced using foods and herbs instead of synthetic means. In my opinion whole food suplements are better when being added to commercial foods like Pedigree and Natural Balance dry foods.
